From its launch the Xsara
established a reputation as being one of the most reliable, economical,
comfortable, good handling and lively cars in its sector. In my opinion it remains there –
especially the diesel HDi models - being more reliable and spacious than the C4
which replaced it. From the start it was
a stylish looking car with the estate being the best looking of all. The ageing 1.9 TD engine was replaced with
the even more economical 2.0 HDi and this is the one to have. This one has done a mere 134,000 miles which
for these engines is just nicely run in!
It comes with full service history to
105,600 miles (6 stamps). Since then it
has been owned by a coffee importing company – with a few beans still
lying around below the boot carpet to prove it!
I have spoken to them and although there are no formal records, they
have assured me that it would have been regularly serviced. I am waiting to find the exact details from
them and will update this page as and when I hear more. It has just had a
new clutch fitted. I am a big fan of the
Citroen/Peugeot turbo diesel engines – especially the HDi - and its not
hard to see why. They are remarkably quick, quiet and economical and seem
to go on just about forever.
They are a favourite with taxi drivers as a result – not that this
one has been taxied!
All documentation is present i.e
owner's manual, audio manual, radio code etc.
It is finished in silver and is
in excellent condition as you will see from the pictures. The only
significant marks to the exterior are a small dent to one of the wheel arches,
another to the back of the osr door and a scuff to the front bumper all of
which you can see on the pictures below.
The interior is trimmed in an attractive grey upholstery which is in superb
condition with no sign of wear at all – just needs cleaning which will be
done soon. The carpets too will be immaculate. It has folding rear seats
and the load area in the back is tardis like in that the cavity seems larger
than the car containing it! The overall condition of the car both inside
and out is excellent.
It has air conditioning, climate
control, electric windows in the front, power steering, 5 speed gearbox.
It has a superb six speaker original equipment coded stereo radio CD which is
built into the dash and features remote controls on the steering wheel.
Other standard equipment includes an electrically adjustable mirror on the
passenger side (which is the only side that needs one!) and central locking.
As with all our cars a full
inspection is welcomed.
