The Vauxhall Corsa has
always been of the best and one of the safest 'superminis'
around and the later ones are even better than before. Despite its size
it has - if not a big - certainly a medium size car feel. The last owner
was alady living in a nearby village who had bought a
new car. She has owned it for eleven years. It had two previous owners. The
mileage is less than average for a diesel car of this age at just 85,000.
The service book has 6 service stamps at 14, 20, 22, 29, 66, and 78
thousand miles. I was told there were
two additional services not recorded in the book too. Either way, that has been more than enough to
keep it in excellent order. It has
recently had a new EGR valve (a perennial fault with these cars) and a new
engine management ECU and high pressure fuel pump.
The SXi A/C model is really
well specified with smart alloy wheels (all well shod but with slight scuff
marks to a couple of the wheels), remote central locking (2 full remote keys),
air conditioning, power steering, electric front windows and electric
mirrors. It also has multiple airbags,
front seat belt pretensioners, a good audio system
with CD player, split folding rear seats, seat height adjustment and electric
headlight adjusters. The remarkable 1.2 litre diesel engine is absurdly
economical. With a low insurance group it is a very cheap car to run. All the documentation is present including
owner's manual, audio manual, etc. It
has good tyres all round including the unused full size spare.
The car is similar to Dr Who's TARDIS in that it seems much bigger on
the inside than the out. I'm 6'2" and I don't even have the seat all
the way back. Even so there is still room for me to sit comfortably in
the back! The boot size is also quite generous for a car of this size.
With the exception of some slight marking to the roof
lacquer coat (where some adhesive stripes have been applied and removed – see pictures
below) and some scuffs to the wheels, inside and out the car is in excellent
condition.
If you’re just looking for some cheap, reliable
transport, you’ll do well to find better.
All in all, the car is a pleasure to drive but don't
take my word for it... come and see it yourself. As with all our cars a
full inspection is welcomed.
